Jeffersonville, Indiana – On August 11, Clark Memorial Health (CMH) in collaboration with Norton Healthcare and LifePoint Health, ceremoniously broke ground on a new outpatient care center in Jeffersonville, Indiana. A small group of leaders from the hospital, Norton Healthcare and LifePoint gathered to celebrate the first dig marking the beginning of construction for the facility, made possible by a $17.2 million investment from LifePoint Health.
“We are eager to break ground and begin construction on this new facility, which will expand our service offerings and ensure high-quality care close to home for those we serve,” said Martin Padgett, CMH chief executive officer. “Today, we take another exciting step in advancing our mission of Making Communities Healthier, and we look forward to seeing this important project come to fruition.”
The nearly 35,000-square-foot outpatient facility will have 6 emergency exam rooms, a trauma room, CT scanner, lab and physician practice space. The free-standing emergency department will be open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, with no appointment necessary. The imaging center’s hours of operation will be 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, and will provide x-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, screening mammography, DEXA scans and echo.
Hospital officials anticipate that the center will hire approximately 45 full-time employees in the first year.
"This is a huge win for the City of Jeffersonville," Mayor Mike Moore said. "Neighborhood health care is crucial and with the amount of residential growth and commercial development in this area, this groundbreaking couldn't have come at a better time. We're excited about the resources and job opportunities this outpatient care center will bring."
“We are excited to continue to develop our service offerings in Southern Indiana,” stated Russell F. Cox, president and chief executive officer of Norton Healthcare.
Additionally, the facility will house three separate suites for the primary care office, behavioral health services and medi-spa. The physician clinic and medi-spa will be managed by Clark Medical Group (CMG). This practice will also focus on partnering with businesses in the area by offering an employer-based clinic model in addition to seeing patients within a traditional practice model.
“Building this outpatient center is just one more example of how deeply we care about this community and how we are always looking for ways to better serve its needs,” emphasized Cherie Sibley, FACHE, president of LifePoint’s central division, of which CMH is a part. “We look forward to the exciting day when we can open this facility and make high-quality emergency services more convenient and accessible for our patients in Jeffersonville.”
The facility is expected to open in 2022.
