Part of Duke LifePoint Healthcare, Wilson Medical Center serves residents in a six-county service area, including Wilson, Wayne, Nash, Johnston, Greene and Edgecombe counties. A full range of inpatient and outpatient services are offered at its 294-bed facility and various physician practices. Wilson Medical also offers outreach programs providing local communities with additional health and wellness resources that go beyond onsite care.

Halfway between New York and Florida along I-95, Wilson is 45 miles east of Raleigh and the Research Triangle Park, and only two hours from the North Carolina coast. The beautiful North Carolina mountains and other outstanding vacation spots are also within easy driving distance. Wilson residents enjoy a community rich in educational, cultural and social opportunities. The local and business communities work together to support excellent public and private education. And Wilson is within a one-hour drive from a dozen major colleges and universities, including Duke, N.C. State, UNC-Chapel Hill and East Carolina University. Wilson itself is home to Wilson Community College, Barton College and the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf.

Wilson is home to historic Fleming Stadium, the Wilson Tobs baseball team, the N.C. Museum of the Coastal Plain baseball museum, J. Burt Gillette Athletic Complex and The Brittany soccer tournament. The city also offers a number of golf facilities and water sports at Lake Wilson and Buckhorn Reservoir, and hosts a number of festivals, including the now famous Whirligig Festival. Imagination Station, The Edna Earle Boykin Center, the city’s Rose Garden and the Barton College Orchestra round out the cultural scene.
