UC Davis Health and Lifepoint Rehabilitation Celebrate Opening of New Rehabilitation Hospital in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, Calif. and BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (April 19, 2023) – University of California, Davis (UC Davis Health), and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health, are celebrating the opening of UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital, a 58,000-square-foot inpatient rehabilitation hospital located on UC Davis Health’s Sacramento campus. With 52 beds, the new facility will more than double the inpatient rehabilitation beds formerly available in the inpatient unit at UC Davis Medical Center.

Located adjacent to Aggie Square, the university’s newly announced technology and innovation hub just south of UC Davis Medical Center, UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital is the first freestanding rehabilitation hospital in Sacramento County.

“As the first freestanding inpatient physical rehabilitation facility in Sacramento, this new hospital opening on our campus not only reflects UC Davis Health's commitment to saving lives, but also highlights our commitment to helping patients achieve the best function possible as they recover from a serious injury,” said David Lubarsky, CEO of UC Davis Health and Vice Chancellor for Human Health Sciences. “Our Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center deliver outcomes that are nation leading, and we are thrilled that we can now discharge those patients to a bright and uplifting new facility sporting the best rehabilitation specialists in the region."

Lifepoint Rehabilitation brings its personalized inpatient care model to the new facility, focusing on acute rehabilitation and recovery for patients who suffer from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, multiple traumas, amputation and other injuries or disorders.

The facility is outfitted with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units, including a 12-bed brain injury unit and four private rooms for bariatric patients. Additionally, the facility also houses multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums, including a 3,100-square-foot therapy gym and 650-square-foot brain injury gym. A specialized suite, in addition to a therapy kitchen and laundry area give patients the opportunity to work through activities of daily living, and a therapeutic courtyard is outfitted with exterior amenities designed to promote patient ambulation and activity.
