LEWISTON, IDAHO – St. Joseph Regional Medical Center (St. Joe’s) announced today that Ed Freysinger, MHSA, has been named chief executive officer (CEO), effective November 3, 2021. Freysinger replaces Jerry Dooley, who has served as interim CEO since June.

An experienced healthcare leader, Freysinger comes to St. Joe’s from UP Health System – Portage, a LifePoint facility in Hancock, Mich., where he has served as CEO. Prior to his position at UP Health System – Portage, Freysinger served as CEO at PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center in Ketchikan, Alaska and as CEO at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, Oregon.

Freysinger holds a Master of Health Services Administration (HMSA) from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University. He has served on the Executive Committee for the Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association, the Southeast Michigan Health and Hospital Council, and was past president of the Hospital Emergency Management Systems in Wayne, Michigan.

Freysinger will be relocating to the LC Valley with his wife, Debbie, a certified nurse anesthetist. They have two grown daughters, both are nurses.
