Meadowview Regional Medical Center Earns National Accreditation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons

Meadowview Regional Medical Center proudly announces that it has earned accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). To achieve CoC accreditation, Meadowview Regional Medical Center underwent a site visit to confirm the program’s compliance with accreditation standards that evaluate the cancer care services offered by the program.

As a CoC-accredited cancer center, Meadowview Regional Medical Center applies a multidisciplinary approach and treats cancer as a complex group of diseases that requires consultation among surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, pathologists, and other health care professionals that specialize in caring for the cancer patient.  Cancer patients benefit from having access to clinical trials, screening and prevention events, palliative care, genetic counseling, rehabilitation, oncology nutrition, and survivorship services.

Meadowview Regional Medical Center maintains a cancer registry and contributes data to the National Cancer Database (NCDB), a joint initiative of the CoC and the American Cancer Society.  The NCDB is a clinical oncology database sourced from hospital registry data collected from CoC-accredited facilities. These data are used to analyze and track patients with malignant neoplastic diseases, their treatments, and their outcomes. Online reporting tools provide the program with comparative benchmarks for similar programs.  In addition, the program has access to reporting tools for quality improvement, quality assurance, and surveillance.

“I am proud of our Cancer Program team for achieving this accreditation,” said Joe Koch, Market President and CEO.  “We continually strive to offer the highest quality healthcare options and achieving this accreditation shows our commitment and dedication to our patients and the communities we serve.”

At Meadowview Regional Medical Center our Cancer Program’s goal is to offer quality treatment of cancer close to home. We hope to reduce the need for patients to travel outside of the community to receive expert care. If you or someone you love is diagnosed with cancer, knowing there is a cancer treatment center in your community is a huge comfort.

Our team of board-certified physicians are committed to combating cancer. That's why our approach involves a treatment plan that pairs technology with an experienced staff who are sensitive to the patient and family and their needs for healing.

Our Cancer program offers onsite Hematology and Oncology services as well as a full-service Infusion Center providing chemotherapy and Immunotherapy.  We also have a state-of-the-art radiation treatment center staffed with a Board-certified Radiation Oncologist, and two full-time Radiation Therapists.  Our Nurse Navigator helps patients and physicians navigate through available resources, services and treatments.
