
Brentwood, Tenn. (October X, 2019) – LifePoint Health®, a leading healthcare company dedicated to Making Communities Healthier®, has promoted two veteran company leaders to new roles, effective immediately:
- Mark Poppell, who previously served as vice president, reimbursement, has been promoted to senior vice president, reimbursement; and
- Michelle Watson, who previously served as vice president, clinical operations, has been named senior vice president, clinical operations.

As senior vice president, reimbursement, Mark Poppell is responsible for the direction and management of LifePoint’s third party reimbursement operations enterprise-wide, including the development and administration of policies and procedures related to all third party governmental payors. He also serves as an advisor to company leadership on third party reimbursement matters and works closely with the company’s government relations department to support LifePoint’s federal and state legislative priorities. Poppell began his tenure at LifePoint Health in 1999 as manager, reimbursement. Prior to his new role, he served most recently as vice president, reimbursement.
In her role as senior vice president, clinical operations, Michelle Watson is responsible for nursing, service line development and operations improvement for the organization, as well as the company’s telehealth strategies. She collaborates closely across the organization to provide key clinical perspectives and aligns physicians, nurses, clinicians and operations to meaningfully impact the delivery of care. Watson also partners with Rusty Holman, MD, LifePoint’s chief medical officer, to advance the company’s quality and patient safety agenda. She most recently served as vice president of clinical operations. Prior to that role, she served as chief nursing officer (CNO) for the company’s Central Division of hospitals, as well as chief operating officer and CNO at Livingston Regional Hospital, a LifePoint facility in Livingston, Tennessee.
