Havasu Regional Medical Center (HRMC), along with Fadi Atassi, MD, from the Lakeside Heart & Vascular Center, and distinguished members of the community, celebrated the opening of a new $14 million cardiac catheterization (cath) lab at a ribbon cutting ceremony on February 1. The cath lab paves the way for an interventional cardiology program at HRMC, providing greater access to life-saving heart care in Mohave County.
“Today is truly exciting for Havasu Regional Medical Center, the community and the entire region we serve. The opening of the cardiac catheterization lab ensures patients in Lake Havasu, Parker, Needles, Bullhead City, Fort Mohave, and all of the surrounding areas in Mohave County have greater access to timely cardiac interventions close to home,” said Phil Fitzgerald, Havasu Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer. “The addition of the cardiac cath lab enhances our mission of making communities healthier and demonstrates our commitment to expanding access and services, the ability to invest in new technology and have the capability to meet the needs of our growing community.”
The new labs will allow enhanced imaging for advanced and complex procedures that are currently offered and new procedures that HRMC will offer in 2024, including TAVR, TEER (MitraClip, PASCAL), LAAO (Watchman, Amulet), PFO closures, cardiac ablation, endovascular aneurysm repair, hybrid cardiovascular procedures, pacemaker devices lead extractions, and carotid stenting, to name a few. The new cardiac cath lab is a tremendous step forward in the fight against heart disease in the region.
HRMC was the first ACC-accredited cardiac cath lab in the state of Arizona, and is also an accredited chest pain center. HRMC achieved a ranking by U.S News & World Report as a High Performing Hospital for Heart Failure and COPD.
