Meyersdale, PA (October 7, 2022) – Conemaugh Health System today announced that Anthony “Tony” Campagna has been named chief executive officer (CEO) at Conemaugh Meyersdale Medical Center (“Meyersdale”). His first day on the job is Monday, October 10.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tony into his new role as CEO at Meyersdale” said William Caldwell, market president of Conemaugh Health System, of which Meyersdale is a part. “Tony is a phenomenal healthcare leader and brings to Meyersdale a wealth of talent and experience through his strong operational background, clinical expertise and local understanding of the region. He has been an integral part of the Conemaugh team for forty years, and we are excited to recognize and support his professional growth and development through this new leadership opportunity within Conemaugh Health System.”

A native of Johnstown, Campagna began his career in the Laboratory at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, where he quickly moved from phlebotomist to the director, leading the department. Since 2018, he has served as the Vice President of Ancillary, Post-Acute and Support Services, where he has had administrative oversight of multiple departments including Laboratory, Imaging, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation Services, Outpatient Services and others. Through this role, he oversaw the construction and opening of Conemaugh’s three outpatient centers – East Hills, Ebensburg and Somerset.

“In addition to his unique combination of operational and clinical experience, Tony brings Meyersdale a genuine commitment to our patients and community,” said Doug Bell, chair of the Conemaugh Board of Trustees. “We’re excited to see what Meyersdale will achieve with Tony at the helm and to partner with him to create the next chapter in its future.”

Campagna earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown and master’s degree in business administration from St. Francis University in Loretto and graduated from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center’s medical technology program. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and is actively engaged in the community as a member of the Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church and has served as president of the West Suburban Little League and as president of the Westmont Hilltop Football and Basketball Boosters.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside these amazing people and continue serving the healthcare needs of this region,” said Campagna. “Meyersdale has a rich history of providing quality care to the people of the Laurel Highlands, and I look forward to our next chapter as we continue to seek new and greater ways to advance our mission of Making Communities Healthier.”
