Virginia's healthcare community recently congregated in Richmond for the 2019 Virginia Patient Safety Summit, where LifePoint Health was well represented by two of its leaders. Peter Mulkey, chief executive officer (CEO) of Clinch Valley Health, was a recipient of the "Imagine a Virginia" Senior Leader Quality & Patient Safety Award, which recognizes senior and executive level professionals who have demonstrated leadership in patient safety and quality improvement both in their organizations and across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Additionally, LifePoint's Chief Medical Officer Rusty Holman, MD, delivered a keynote address at the summit, reflecting on the patient safety movement over the last 20 years and exploring the evolving scope of patient safety as a path to community health improvement, prevention and wellness. Dr. Holman drew on LifePoint's experience and lessons learned to help bring the presentation to life in a relatable way for the healthcare leaders in attendance.
The annual summit is sponsored by the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA) and the VHHA's Center for Healthcare Excellence.
