A new hospital opens

When LifePoint Health acquired Clark Regional Medical Center in May 2010, we made a commitment to CRMC and the Winchester, Kentucky community to open a new, state-of-the-art replacement facility. That promise came to fruition two years later on CRMC's 95th anniversary in 2012, with the grand opening of a brand new $60 million, 79-bed facility, which reiterated CRMC's century-long commitment to the people of Clark County and solidified LifePoint's role as an economic and healthcare leader in the community. On the occasion of the facility's grand opening, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear highlighted Clark County as a "model community for healthcare advancement."

The 131,000 square-foot hospital boasts a forward-thinking, one-level design that enhances patient flow with an easily navigable floor plan centered around a "central spine." Leadership worked closely with architects to ensure that every aspect of the building would have a positive impact on patients, providers and staff. CRMC hosts a cutting edge radiology department, state-of-the-art surgical suites, an emergency department with 22 private exam and treatment rooms, luxurious labor/delivery/recovery suites in the Center for Women and Babies, and a community dining room, meeting rooms, outdoor patio and chef's garden, among other notable features. And it was the first hospital in Kentucky with an environmentally-friendly, 100 percent geo-thermal heating and cooling system, exemplifying LifePoint's commitment to the health of the community, both inside and outside hospital walls.

Investing beyond the hospital

In addition to the hospital, a $10 million, three-story, 45,000 square-foot medical office building was opened the same year to house CRMC's Women's Health Center and Rehab/Physical Therapy Center, as well as staff for the Clark Clinic, a subsidiary of CRMC focused on family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics.

These new facilities are an important investment in Clark County and ensure CRMC's ability to provide the advanced services and optimum care environments to respond to the evolving healthcare needs of its community.
