Brentwood, Tenn. (March 3, 2020) – LifePoint Health®, a leading healthcare company dedicated to Making Communities Healthier®, today announced that Dr. Christopher Rehm has been named senior vice president (SVP) and chief medical officer (CMO) for the organization, effective immediately. Rehm had been serving in the role as an interim leader since December.
In his role, Rehm fronts a new dyad leadership model for the company’s clinical operations with Michelle Watson, LifePoint’s SVP and chief nursing officer (CNO). The new dyad structure removes organizational silos and brings together physician and nursing leadership as equal partners to enhance quality, safety and the patient experience across the organization. This new structure is reflected in a reorganized Quality and Clinical Operations department overseen by Rehm and Watson and encompassing all aspects of quality, patient safety, service line operations and development, operations improvement, telehealth, care management, survey readiness and clinical excellence and experience.

Rehm first joined the LifePoint family in 2013 as vice president of medical informatics, and then served as chief medical informatics officer since 2015, prior to assuming his current role. Before joining LifePoint, he served in several key leadership roles for other organizations, including as CMO and vice president of business development for Aionex, Inc.; chief operating officer (COO) for Cogent Healthcare’s Northeast Region, where he was responsible for the clinical, operational and financial performance of hospital medicine programs in large academic and complex medical centers across the country; and CMO for Spheris, where he led the account and support teams for transcription and documentation technology solutions at more than 250 hospitals nationwide.
In addition to his leadership tenures, Rehm is an experienced clinician with an extensive background in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He earned his Bachelor of Science with Honors from Vanderbilt University’s College Scholars Program and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, before completing his internship in internal medicine at Harvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following that, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where he served as chief resident. He then was a practicing physiatrist for the Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance and Concentra. In his practice, he focused on acute musculoskeletal conditions, electromyography and occupational injuries.
