The city of Logan is alive with special events throughout the year, including live outdoor dramas in summer at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater in Chief Logan State Park, a Civil War reenactment each September and the Shawnee Trail Encampment in October, featuring daily frontier living, exhibits by artisans and craftsmen and “Buckskinners” portraying characters from the late 18th century. During the holiday season, Chief Logan State Park becomes a winter wonderland, with a beautiful light display. Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College offers two-year associate degrees, in addition to certificates in more than 20 technical and occupational career fields

Camping, fishing, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, tennis, youth soccer leagues and more – West Virginia has it all. The 4,000-acre Chief Logan State Park offers a 25-site campground, modern restaurant, picnic shelters, playground, swimming pool, tennis, miniature golf, outdoor amphitheater, conference center and wildlife center. Horseback riding is another popular pastime, with park stables providing horses. And nearby are the Hatfield and McCoy Trail Systems, open to ATVs, motorcycles, mountain bikers, equestrians and hikers.
